Today’s blog is a special one as we’re changing things up and taking an in depth look at one of my favorite Minnesota wedding venues, Legacy Hill Farm! You might recognize Legacy Hill Farm from my previous blog covering Alison and Riley’s summer wedding there. Their day was as incredible as the venue itself which inspired me to take an in depth look at the venue and what makes it so special. So without further ado, let’s get into it.

What Sets Legacy Hill Farm Apart

Legacy Hill Farm can be found in Welch, Minnesota which is about 45 minutes south of the Twin Cities. The wedding venue has a ton of features and characteristics to it that set it apart. It’s crucial that when you’re deciding on the venue for your wedding day that it not only fits the aesthetic vision that you have, but also provides the amenities and experience you’d want to have for your day. Legacy Hill Farm is a venue that excels in all of these aspects!

The Spaces Available

For starters, Legacy Hill Farm has 9 separate spaces available on site. This includes their outdoor amphitheater, indoor pavilion, a bar and patio, private getting ready spaces, and more. These spaces aren’t just for show either, as each and every one serves a purpose for your wedding day! The amphitheater is perfect for an outdoor ceremony, and the pavilion is ideal for an indoor reception or as a backup ceremony space in case of rain. As a special bonus the outdoor amphitheater is receiving an upgrade in 2024 to include more greenery, a seating upgrade, and more shade!

The bar and patio are your go to space for cocktail hour. Having an abundance of locations available for portraits on site not only keeps your traveling to a minimum, but also gives your wedding album a fun amount of variety. Lastly, having multiple getting ready spaces on site is a game changer for your wedding day! It makes the morning of your wedding a much simpler and stress free experience than if you were to get ready elsewhere and then have to travel to your venue. I seriously cannot overstate how wonderful this is!

The Amenities

There’s a lot more to Legacy Hill Farm than their spaces though, as gorgeous as they are! For starters they provide the tables and chairs needed for each and every guest of your wedding day, so there’s no need to hire a rental service if you don’t want to. Other amenities include lighting for all of their spaces, both indoor and outdoor, professional mosquito and bug control, and a plethora of services from the staff which we’ll discuss next! The venue also offers add-ons for those looking to take their experience to the next level. This includes firewood service for their firepit, 2 hour early access to the venue and its spaces, and patio heaters for those looking to enjoy the outdoor spaces as the temperatures drop.

The Service You Receive

If I had to choose one area that Legacy Hill Farm really excels in, it is their customer service experience! This venue takes care of you and prioritizes making your vision for your wedding a reality. This starts as early on as their website, which covers EVERYTHING including pricing, hours, and any other detail you can imagine. Once you are on site for your day though is when the service really starts to shine. Their services include table setup, table teardown, concierge service, a venue manager, housekeeping, parking attendants, an overall clean up crew, security staff, and a post event deep cleaning service.

Things to Consider

Now that we have a grasp on what the venue provides for couples renting the space for their wedding day, let’s cover some things you’ll want to consider when planning your wedding here!

Guest Limit and Availability

First let’s cover the guest limit and availability for booking Legacy Hill Farm as your wedding venue. Legacy Hill Farm is open from April to November, so if you are looking for a venue for your winter wedding you’ll need to look elsewhere. Depending on the date you are hoping for, the dates begin to fill up anywhere from a year to a year and a half out, so plan accordingly if you’re set on this being your venue. As for the guest limit, May through October has a cap of 295 guests. For April and November the guest cap drops to 175. Another note for April and November is they only allow indoor ceremonies during these months.

Vendor Requirements

A wonderful aspect of Legacy Hill Farm is that in terms of wedding vendors, you have a LOT of freedom to hire who you want. The only exclusive vendors they have are their catering and bar providers which can be found here. On the same page is a list of recommended vendors such as photographers, videographers, florists, etc. This second list though is non exclusive, so if you have a vendor in one of these positions in mind that isn’t on their list you can still go with them. This is a great resource though for couples that aren’t sure on all of their vendors yet!

Travel and Stay

Being in Welch, Minnesota means that Legacy Hill Farm is very close to the historic town of Red Wing! While there are more places to stay in the Twin Cities, it is a much further trek than to Red Wing which has a good variety of places to stay. There are shuttle services near the venue that can be rented for your day, and the venue itself has plenty of parking spaces available for any guests that are driving.
