Morning Winter Wedding in Southern Minnesota | RaeLissa + Taylor

This morning wedding day in Chatfield, Minnesota is the perfect example of how to make your wedding day fun while being unique to you!

RaeLissa and Taylor weren’t afraid to make their wedding day their own, and I absolutely adore them for it. These two put together an incredible morning wedding at their venue in Chatfield, Minnesota. With plenty of personal touches, a winter wonderland feel to the day, and plenty of love to go around, there’s so much about this day that I can’t wait to share here.

Their Morning Wedding at Joy Ridge Event Center

RaeLissa and Taylor’s wedding took place at 10 in the morning at Joy Ridge Event Center in Chatfield, Minnesota. Their wedding was actually the first time I met these two, which is a bit different than my usual routine with my clients. Typically I’ll photograph engagement photos with my clients before their wedding day, but even with that not being the case for RaeLissa and Taylor we were still able to make and document some magic for their day! The two got ready separately as they didn’t want to see each other before their ceremony.

This made the moment of RaeLissa walking down the aisle all the more incredible as Taylor burst into tears of joy seeing her for the first time. From that moment until we all parted ways at the end of the day Taylor couldn’t take her eyes off of her. After their ceremony it was time to get most of the day's portraits done so that the two newlyweds could celebrate with their loved ones. We took family and wedding party photos indoors first before making our way outside for RaeLissa and Taylor’s portraits amongst the evergreen trees that surround the venue.

Hot Chocolate Hour and a Reception

By having their wedding take place in the morning rather than the typical afternoon/evening celebration, RaeLissa and Taylor were able to really get creative for their reception. For starters, instead of a cocktail hour they put together a hot chocolate hour, which  I LOVED. It was such a fun and unique take on the wedding tradition that I definitely hope to experience again. After brunch it was time for the rest of the reception’s festivities. This included some lovely speeches for the new bride and groom, some fun in the photo booth, and a few first dances before the dance floor opened up for everyone to enjoy.

Even with the wedding day starting in the morning, everyone was having a blast on the dance floor alongside RaeLissa and Taylor. The two ended their wedding by changing into some matching sweat suits and heading to Chick-fil-A before heading to a treehouse cabin for a week-long honeymoon. A perfect way to end a wedding day that perfectly fits these two wonderful people!
